Bioidentical hormones.

    Helpful links

Below you will find links to web sites that are useful and informative in a variety of subjects relating to bioidentical hormone replacement and health in general. The more women know about how their bodies function, the better equipped they are to deal with doctors and the symptoms of perimenopuase, menopause, and aging. Have you ever had a doctor test your vitamin and mineral levels in any depth? Have you ever had a doctor ask you what you eat or how much time you spend outdoors? Or what your sex life is like? Probably not. It is up to us to learn as much as we can so that we can live well for as long as we can. I invite all women to do their own research, learn as much as possible, and stop putting blind faith in doctors. It's fascinating, empowering, and necessary.

This is by no means a complete or extensive list of sites, but these are some of my favorites. I will continue to add to them.

Find a compound pharmacy in your area. This is the best way to find a doctor for bioidentical hormones. Even if there is no compounding pharmacy in your locality, a doctor can work with one online if he or she is willing (there's the catch).

Compounding pharmacies

There are many compounding pharmicies online. A doctor can work with any of them. But here are my two favorites. These sites are filled to the brim with wonderful information on bioidentical hormones and other health topics.

    The Compounder
This is a great site! The pharmacist is very frank and outspoken. Someone needs to be saying what's on his site and I applaud him. If you want to learn more about hormones and living better in general, get on this site.

Purchasing prescription bioidentical hormones:

(Yes, it is legal to purchase up to a three-month supply of hormones for personal use without a prescription.)

Here are some sites where you can purchase bioidentical hormones without a prescription. "What forms do bioidentical hormones come in?" has more information you may need to know before purchasing any hormones. I have used Inhouse Pharmcy and Goldpharma and have been very happy with the products and service. Masters Marketing in the UK may also still sell hormones for personal use (I haven't used them for several years), but their website now indicates that they require a prescription.

Over-the counter progesterone cream

There are dozens, maybe hundreds, of over-the-counter progesterone creams. These are all unregulated, so use common sense when buying a bioidentical progesterone cream. Some have even been found not to contain any progesterone at all, but the half dozen or so brands that I have tried over the years all seem to work fine. Below are my recommended links for progesterone cream.

Pro-gest has been around for a long time and has been used in clinical tests, so I know it actually has progesterone in the amount that it says. It's a good cream.
This site has a good prices and services and I use it for many items.

Natpro is another good progesterone cream. It contains the maximum dosage of bioidentical progesterone, which allows a for a smaller amount to be massaged into the skin. This takes less time, and the cream absorbs quicker than Pro-gest.

Nutrition

I think it's important to supplement my diet, but not with synthetic vitamins and minerals. I use nutrient-dense foods instead, like apple cider vinegar, blackstrap molasses, cod liver oil, fish oil, flaxseed meal, acerola cherry powder, green food powder, and maca.

You are probably wondering what the apple cider vinegar and black strap molasses are all about. Earth Clinic is a very information-filled site about all sorts of home remedies in a message board format. It explains the apple cider vinegar and black strap molasses. You will be fascinated with the unique home remedies people post about on this site.

Vitapal is a convenient source to get apple cider vinegar (must be organic with "the mother" and not Heinz from the grocery store), flaxseed meal, cod liver oil, and fish oil (the oil in bottles, not the capsules) online rather than from multiple places. And they have great prices.
